mood boards

So recently I have been trying to get back into my costume designing, after having had a few months off whilst I got married and learnt how to “adult” a bit better. I decided to base my work over the next couple of weeks on ‘The Tempest’ by William Shakespeare as I have never designed a Shakespeare play and I wanted to have a real script and characters to be working from. One of the first things I do to get into a play is look at the moods and themes. So here are some different types of mood boards all based on the colours that I thought best represented my interpretation of the script: BLUE. I have never started developing a script through colour but I really like the outcome and I am excited to keep designing. I hope you like them and have fun creating many mood boards of your own xx

all mood boards are created using cut outs of magazines and things :)

ripping and cutting into squares and rectangles using craft tape and masking tape to stick it down

lots of colour and texture swatches all stuck together with masking tape at the top

ripping large images and sticking them together with no gaps. this is the easiest and my go-to mood board style

a more edited version with artist influence images (top right corner is van gogh) and some colour swatches.

love, tiff xx
