lino printing and lots of tea

HELLO!!!

For day 5 of A MONTH OF TEXTILES, I did some lino printing.

My friend Naomi has had all of the lino printing equipment sitting in her house waiting to be used, so we had a wonderfully creative day. We were printing for about 5 hours with help from lots of tea and many many chats and giggles. If you have never lino printed before and you give it a go be really careful with the cutters. I ended up with 3 cuts on my fingers and Naomi bled so much she got blood on the wall!! However we did get to wear children’s plasters with pictures on them. The final results turned out really well and I can’t wait to work into them with embroidery and maybe some quilting. I had never tried lino printing on fabric before but it works really well and gives some interesting results. For these samples we just used acrylic paint but if I was to do it for wearable textiles or water resistant I would use some fabric paint or a fabric fixer J

Also go check out Naomi’s work… she is an incredible florist and her Instagram is beautiful!!
