KALEIDOSCOPE
hello everybody!
I am so so excited to announce a project I have been working on with my friend for the last month or so. I met up with Faye, who is an incredible artist (check out her work on Instagram: fayebowdenartist or HERE ) , and we talked about curating an exhibition. Faye has previous experience in curating but for me this is a totally new adventure. We are part of quite a large church in Bournemouth and we really wanted to showcase some of the artistic talents that people have within this community. We came up with the name KALEIDOSCOPE with the idea that when you look through the lens you might see shapes, colours and patterns that you don't expect. When you look at the church you might see people and giftings you don't expect. We have a variety of work going up, along with a night of live arts on opening night. As I said before this is all new to me and I feel so blessed to be able to participate in such an event.
The first thing I can share with you is the flyer designs! You might recognize the background is some of my work that I made and then scanned in. Faye and I then sat at a computer playing on photoshop with fonts and opacity until we came to the final design...
To get to this point I firstly had a play around at home with various ideas, and I thought it would be fun to show you those:
From these initial ideas, we then created another ink background like in the top left corner and added the font from the bottom row. It looked like this:
I then created a new background with the colours we thought worked best (blue and orange) and from then on we just manipulated it on photoshop! Here is the original art work, and then below I will show you the other 4 final flyers :)
Thanks for reading and let me know what your favourite colour is!!
see you soon
